Wrap it up Already...
Wow... a year has flown by and I'm finally getting around to writing on this blog again. It hasn't been an exciting few months, however it's been busy with Christmas and a couple of other things to make the time fly by.
To wrap the year up:
Top 3 gigs of the year
1) Sarah Blasko - Ruby's Lounge 21/07
In a word: Beautiful
2) Regurgitator - Corner Hotel 12/10
Tough to choose between the 2 times I saw them this year, but hearing the new album live puts this one up there slightly.
3) Wilco - Palais 19/04
Nels and his guitars... Be interesting to see how the follow-up in a few months compares.
Surprise of performance
Liam Finn supporting Sarah Blasko @ The Forum 27/10 and follow-up @ NSC 22/11
Imagine Christmas with the Finns. Damn talented family and Liam is a fantastic artist solo. Pity about the turnout at the NSC gig (~50), although I wasn't complaining about the extra elbow room.
Disappointment
Yo La Tengo - Corner Hotel 06/03
After 5 minutes of continuous guitar feedback, fingernails down a blackboard would've been a godsend.
Embarrassing Moment of the Year (not involving me)
Beating my mate Jimbo 4-6 6-0 6-0 in tennis and forcing 2 separate laps around the tennis net with his pants around his ankles. Priceless. Hey I don't make these rules, but I am going to enforce 'em!
New Years Resolution
Try and move on from this Sarah Blasko obsession
In other news, if you haven't checked out Entourage do so. Supposedly based on Mark Wahlberg's life, it's one of the funniest shows I've seen. Cleverly written with likable characters it opens your eyes to the celebrity lifestyle.
I hope anyone who reads this had a great, safe Christmas and New Years!

Happy New Year to you too- gee that wooshing sound was 2007 exiting the stage. It came and went too fast- but if there's anything that I'll make sure of it's the 2008 is a year when things will get done.
Hope this year is exciting, challenging and most importantly rewarding for you and look forward to reading more of your posts.
btw> I've heard about entourage but have yet to check it out.
Also, kinda random but... are you by any chance a magician?

Thanks M's! The year certainly flew by. Hope you had a great one! I agree with your assessment of 2008. Things must get done... A note with Entourage - It can be a little crude and not for the easily offended ;) That q definitely is random! No can't say that I'm a magician. Although it sounds infinitely more exciting than my current job!
yossarian, happy NY to you too! I've already regressed and will attend another show on Friday... A bit of trivia: I think it was Jimmy Barnes' daughter providing supporting vocals at Liam's show. Yes, I'm jealous of his talent. Look forward to hearing more about your adventures abroad - It sounds like you're having a blast!
yep jonno you're right about jimmy barnes' daughter. and some more trivia related to the barnes and the finns - liam's younger brother elroy was/is(?) seeing one of the barnes' daughters. jeez, and i thought the science world was a small one...
...and i'm sure as hell jealous of liam's (and his dad's!) talent/s too!
Happy New Year Jonno! Your choice for a NY resolution doesn't sound like a particularly heinous vice to rid yourself of - i say don't worry about it...unless like most (nay - ALL!) resolutions which come undone just mere days into the new year, you secretly want to break this resolution?
As for checking out Entourage, i have been looking for something to fill the void now that i've come to terms about there only being three seasons of arrested development, so thanks for the recommendation - will check it out.
yossarian - nice piece of trivia... Ironically I think I went to high school with one of the people who is linked on jfox's blog...Now the world is slightly smaller.
serenity - Thanks. Hope you had a great one... Yes. Too late, the resolution is broken 8 days in... Haven't had a chance to catch too much of arrested development, but always hear good things. Thanks, will have to add it to the list.
